1 like = 1 random fact about The Curse
(can be anything - it’s characters, the plot, family relationships, etc,.)
1: The original draft of The Curse was written sometime between Jan - May of 2010, back when I was a freshman/9th grade. I handwrote the entire thing while in class.

It wasn’t until 2016 that I revamped the characters + story until it became the monster it is today
2: Poisonfang has an apprentice known as Logshade. The two didn’t get along very well; Poisonfang was not the most kind nor patient mentor. He was eager to become deputy so he forced Logshade to learn advanced moves/go into battles as early as possible.

old art of him 2019
3: Skullpaw is said to look almost exactly like his father body-type wise. The Clans know about his half-Clan heritage, although it’s kept a tight secret in RiverClan/really isn’t other Clans business. His eye shape, however, is more akin to his mother.
4: The Curse has changed quite a lot over the many years I’ve developed it. Poisonfang wasn’t in the original draft; it was just some generic ‘evil side’ to Skullpaw. The event that always stayed was the death of Lakeripple; it’s actually my favorite scene in the entire story
5: Not really a fact (I’m cheating here) but I’d say my favorite character is definitely Poisonfang. I’m a sucker for evil characters and he’s received the most redesigns/updates over the years. He and Lakeripple share a very complex relationship.

2013 - 2016 - 2018 - current
6: When I started rewriting the story, The Apprentice’s Quest was going to come out. It was originally going to be set a few years after BS but now The Curse is set in an AU where events after Shattered Sky never happened. SkyClan did settle in the same territory in canon, tho
7: The key event of the story is Lakeripple’s death and it’s the major conflicts it causes for RiverClan and it’s impact on Skullpaw. Lakeripple never trained an apprentice so a major problem is finding a replacement, while Flowstar is concerned other Clans might attack.
8: Skullpaw& #39;s design has barely changed in the 10 years I& #39;ve owned him. I created him in....I wanna say February/March of 2010. I don& #39;t remember why I chose such an edgy name tbh but even with The Curse& #39;s revamp, it& #39;s stuck with me.

Here is all the 2010 stuff of him I found
9: The theme song for the entire fanfic is The Yawning Grave by Lord Huron. Each & #39;verse& #39; links to a different character in the story. Skullpaw& #39;s theme song is Holy by PVRIS, Lakeripple is Dear Wormwood by The Oh Hello& #39;s. Poisonfang& #39;s theme is Burn the Evidence by Billy Tallent.
10: Lakeripple always wanted to be a medicine cat. When apprenticed, Mistystar refused because they already had 2. Lakepaw helped to heal an injured Clanmate when the medicine cats weren’t around; that was enough to convince Mistystar. His mentors were Willowbreeze and Mothwing.
11: These next few facts I will go on explaining every scene from a big image I’ve done recently. This first one is a young Skullkit with his mother, Sparklepelt. Two of her other kits were stillborn. She wasn’t allowed to tell Skullkit of his half-Clan heritage.
12: Skullpaw was apprenticed to the young warrior, Frogstep. Frogstep always care deeply for Skullkit, often playing with the lonely kit. He asked Flowstar to be his mentor when the time came. To Skullpaw, Frogstep is like the father he never had. He keeps dark secrets, though.
13: Lakeripple carried immense guilt throughout his life, being unable to save both of Poisonfang’s sisters or Skullpaw’s mom when she succumbed to greencough. His false prophecy led Poisonfang down a dark path, almost destroying his Clan. His destiny wasn’t to be a medicine cat.
14: When he died, Poisonfang went to the Dark Forest, where he found out through Mapleshade (one of the cats who trained him there) that the ‘prophecy’ was never meant for him. He carried a deep hatred for Lakeripple and when he was ‘reborn’ in Skullpaw, vowed revenge.
15: Finding out he was half-Clan took a devastating toll on Skullpaw. His whole Clan knew, they lied to him his entire life because Flowstar was afraid of the consequences. After this, Skullpaw’s rage led Poisonfang to manipulate him more easily.
16: Sparklepelt met the ShadowClan warrior, Blackheart, when they were apprentices at a Gathering. The two would sneak out and meet by the half-bridge on several nights a moon. Flowstar (then Flowdeep) suspected something, especially when Spaklepelt announced kits.
17: Lakeripple died on the night of a Gathering, staying in camp along with Skullpaw,, who had gotten in trouble by his mentor. He seemed to know he’d die by Poisonfang’s claws. The rainstorm helped to wash away the evidence and Skullpaw awoke the next day unaware of the murder.
18: When Skullpaw found out he’d killed Lakeripple, he confessed to his mentor. Frogstep admitted he knew but thought he was protecting him. The anger of this caused Poisonfang to possess off. He ran off and was attacked by foxes, which Frogstep saved him from.
19: Not having a medicine cat, Frogstep’s injuries from the fight forced him to retire. Skullpaw apologized yet Frogstep held no anger. Rushstream, the deputy, became his new mentor and the two didn’t get along very well at all, with the latter suspecting Skullpaw of the murder.
20: Ever since Poisonfang’s violent reign as deputy, Flowstar wanted nothing but to keep the peace within the Clan. To the point where Poisonfang’s name was banned, along with Skullpaw being half-Clan. He became a leader before he reached 2 years old.
21: The final fight in the story was between WindClan. Skullpaw’s kithood friend was killed in battle by a WindClan warrior, allowing Poisonfang to possess him. He then went right for Flowstar, vowing to end all his nine lives and rule over RiverClan as promised those moons ago.
22: Lakeripple’s spirit came and ended the battle before Poisonfang could kill Flowstar. He banished Poisonfang’s spirit back to the Dark Forest, finally freeing Skullpaw from his influence. The apprentice would earn the warrior name of Skullfang.
