✨SAWASHIRO CHIHARU✨

WELCOME TO THIS LONG THREAD ABOUT THIS AMAZING MAN (PROBS UPDATED FROM TIME TO TIME)
so, who is sawashiro chiharu? sawachan (im sorry i like to call him that) is a seiyuu (voice actor) & singer! his most known roles are most likely Banri (A3!), Ritsu (Caligula, he is the protagonist) and Nozomu (TsukiPro).
he has also voiced several supporting roles, but for the specific ones please check out this MAL overview: https://myanimelist.net/people/40432/Chiharu_Sawashiro
i don't know that many of his game characters (besides Banri) but a few weeks ago it was announced that he'll be added to Ikémen Sengoku cast!
🔆BASIC INFORMATION🔆
sawachan was born on the 20th of December, 1987 (currently 32 years old) in the Nagano Prefecture. He is 175cm tall and weighs around 55kg. For anyone interested, his measurements are: 83-68-87 cm.
he also has an older sister, Sawashiro Miyuki. His started started voice acting when she was 14 (while chiharu debuted when he was around 26/27 i think if im not mistaken) and she is a very popular seiyuu.
his sister is known for roles such as: Celty (Durarara), Kurapika (Hunter x Hunter 2011), Seri (K), Mine Fujiko (Lupin) and a lot of other roles. Here's an overview provided by MAL: https://myanimelist.net/people/99/
a small comparison: on MAL, a site that is used by a lot of non-Japanese anime fans, chiharu currently has 36 favourites whereas his sister currently has 33,852 favourites. This does slightly indicate their difference in popularity.
🔆BACKGROUND INFORMATION🔆
chiharu describes himself as an energetic child who always wanted to do stuff and couldn't ever stop talking. He used to play a lot outside. (photo from official blog: https://profile.ameba.jp/ameba/sawasawa1220/)
in his radio, he also mentioned always playing with his fingers as a child, here's the after talk of his radio where he shows what kind of 'playings' he often did:
in elementary school, chiharu used to be part of the soccer/football club. somewhere during grade school he took interest in baseball, but he continued soccer bc he couldn't tell his parents he wanted to play baseball. in his photobook he mentioned always having difficulties-
with telling his parents what he truly feels (i got this from his photobook so i translated this myself and so i can't guarantee 100% accuracy) and that he sometimes still feels like this.
during middle school he joined the handball club and in high school he joined the baseball club. He quit rather early though, because the training schedule was too hard (for example, running 10km every day)
his love for baseball didn't die out though, he still likes to watch it and knows the rules well and knows a lot of players!
forgot to add this picture, but here is a photo of him visiting a baseball match when he was in America for Caligula at Anime Expo!
when he was younger, chiharu didn't really like his own name, because it is rather girly. over the years, he has learnt to like and even love it. this photoshoot in his photobook was inspired by that:
chiharu had always found the concept of going to school by train interesting, so when it was time to choose a high school, he chose to apply for a school a bit farther away, so he could take the train to school (this dude i swear)
at school, chiharu said he was popular amongst girls, but he wasn't good at talking to them (once again, i translated this myself so not 100% sure)
when he was 18, he took up the guitar. he'd always been interested in playing in a band and because he was not in any club, he had a lot of time to pratice. some of my favourite photos of him holding a guitar😔💖:
he'd played the piano since a younger ago (im guessing his parents liked it or something bc his sister plays it too, or it's just a shared interest) and is still practicing it!
chiharu went to college after graduating from high school, because he still didn't know for sure what he wanted to do with his life. his sister was already pretty famous and he sometimes heard her and her seiyuu friends talk and thought maybe that'd be interesting to do
he often talks about how he was always broke in college (and still doesn't have that much money) so he couldn't go on trips that went to foreign countries/any expensive trips.
in his photobook interview, chiharu said he didn't like being in the spotlight, he'd prefer leaving that to someone else, but after college he took a turn and decided to become a stage actor
i don't know that much about his time as a stage actor, as i haven't read his complete blog archive yet, but here are some of my favourite pics from his actor time!
his stage time was pretty harsh. he was tight on money and i think he was suffering from slight depression. when he was in his early twenties, his sister wrote him the words: 'even if you are in despair at this moment, i'm looking forward to your future'.
he still keeps those words on his desk, as they remind him of what he has accomplished. his sister also came to see his first stage play and wrote some supportive words anonymously (i don't rememeber what they were and where i found it im sorry)
now that i'm talking about his sister, here are some pictures of the two of them together :)
in his photobook (yes this book is like the bible to me oof), he tells that in kindergarten, his sister used to take care of him all the time and tell him what he could and could not do. as he was very energetic and bright, he is grateful towards her for that
back to his career as a stage actor: he started in 2008/2009 and started as a seiyuu around 2014/2015. he is affiliated with the agency (seiyuu) Stay Luck which has been founded by Namikawa Daisuke (who chiharu likes to call namikawa-sensei)
unfortunately, i don't know the exact reason why he switched from being an actor to being a seiyuu, but he did. one of his first roles was Alto from MARGINAL#4
chiharu practiced for hours at karaoke, after stage practice, alone, in order to improve his singing skills. this isn't uncommon for starting seiyuu but i just wanted to point it out as it shows his ambition and how hard he works
in his early seiyuu days, so in 2014/2015, he was part of a variety program with a lot of seiyuu such as eguchi takuya, masuda toshiki, yamaya toshitaka & more called 'mote fuku (モテ福)'. here's a funny video of him crossdressing: https://www.bilibili.com/video/av8284044?spm_id_from=333.338.__bofqi.27
some more photo's from the program as i personally love it! i haven't seen it, but it looks like it'd be super entertaining!
not long after starting as a seiyuu, he started the band project called ' chihasei (チハ生)', with one of his high school friends, sunrise taiyo, being the drummer. here's an example of their group:
later on, the project became a real band called 'Street Story' and the band released their first mini-album 'Motto Ashita e' on May 15, 2019. Last month they released a new single ' Yume Glider' (of which chiharu wrote the lyrics!) and on May 15, 2020 they will release-
their latest single 'Ao Sora Beat'. Here are the links to two of their mvs which have been uploaded on YouTube: ,
when chiaharu got the role of banri in 2017, his popularity as a seiyuu rose and chiharu himself likes banri very much! i love this video where he visits animate stores and talks to banri:
because we all love banri, here are some pics of chiharu with banri :)
and on december 2018, his 31st birthday, his first (and atm the only one) photobook released! my holy bible---
also in 2018, chiharu became part of the cast of the popular seiyuu variety program BokuKoe, but please see my thread for more information about that: https://twitter.com/taichibii/status/1255127748382584840
at the end of 2018, he got his own radio on every Thursday 18:00-19:00 called 'Sawashiro Chiharo's The Catch'. the radio has a YouTube channel since not too long ago, where every week the after talk is posted.
i think im done (for now at least)?? here are little facts:
-he feels reassured when he sees the clock move, bc then he is sure it is still working
-whenever he has a day off, he is always practicing: either the guitar, the piano or whatever
-his common knowledge is nonexistent
-he speaks zero english and here is a funny example:
-he used to call his mother 'mammy'
-his mother used to do his summer homework when he didn't understand it
-he is a proud uncle and loves his nephew
so imma end this here!!! it got even longer than i expected oof. i dont expect people to read this completely. i just wanted to say: i respect chiharu a lot for his ambitions and sweet personality and im somewhat proud of what he has achieved so far! i wish him the best!
the chances that i will update this like every thursday after the radio or after ive read a new interview are high, so if you don't want to hear even more please mute this 😔💖
also!! just realised this but, a small fun fact for juban fans: their seiyuu have worked together several times! in Caligula, they voice the two main charas and they were in the same unit in bokukoe. for Caligula, they went to an anime event in Philippines together!
last two facts id like to add for this time:
-according to himself, he cusses a lot
-he thinks he'd be a boring boyfriend (and person in general) bc all he does is practice & he's always busy doing his own thing (this stuck with him cuz i dont want him to view himself as boring)
i just need to add one of my favourite videos and then i swear i will go to sleep-- please enjoy this masterpiece! 😌
really went and forgot to add a collection of chiharu with his long hair!! i love his long hair and it's actually the reason why i took interest in him when i saw him in a magazine for the first time😔❤
today, at 19:00 JST, Street Story's new single Ao Sora Beat was released! if im not mistaken, chiharu wrote it! also, tomorrow May 15 2020, Street Story's tv programme "Street Bokenki" will start airing at 12:00 JST! the official Twitter account is @/Streetbokenki
