so my mom decided one day to surprise me with a dwarf hamster after work. the way these little animals have my heart is absolutely insane. anyway my last hamster, his name was merlin, died while i was living in new york so that broke my heart.

so obviously i love my new hamster, his name is charlie, but one night i came home from work and something was wrong with him. when i tell you i was devastated, i just cried and prepared myself to lose him as well. these are pictures of charlie, the first tweet was merlin ♡

the next day while i was at work my mom took him to the vet. [hard to find one that treats hamsters] he needed immediate surgery or else he’d need to be put down. i made the decision to go through with the surgery. [it was a 50/50 chance he’d recover considering he’s so small]

the surgery went great. he stayed a few days to make sure everything was okay before he came home. to this day he’s still a happy, feisty, cheerio loving hammy. here is a video of my baby falling asleep while we prepared his cage because he couldn’t sleep away from home ♡
