Tbh, hot take : in India, yes a handful of us are privileged enough to work from home, only complain about "oh this quarantine is taking a toll on my lifestyle", "I haven't been out in a whole while" , and complain about the government easing lockdown measures. But -
What we don't realise is that a LOT of people would rather go back to work and risk getting the virus than sit at home and watch their families starve considering the proportion of the population that depends on daily wages.
It's literally a choice between the lesser of two evils: to starve or come in contact with a disease where there's only a 3% chance of dying. On top of that not to mention a big hike in crime rates that's going to happen if they're not going to completely lift the lockdown!
The numbers just look bad because they've finally started testing more, although not enough, but when you compare it to the whole population there's barely many. This is just my opinion really.
It's like how chennai has 2500 active cases for example... For a population of about 11 million. The WHO says we're at least 18 months away from a definite cure and do you think people esp from lower middle class and below households can sustain that long?
Well all of these are really thoughts in my head and I was just wondering what the government is really going to do about this because they don't really have proper resources to handle a billion people, esp where 73%+ of the wealth is with only 1% of the population
And this richest 1% are out there preaching to help people when they're not helping as much as they really should be, given the wealth. The existing government hospitals have very shitty infrastructure and are barely sanitised (that is a well known fact esp if you've lived here)
I thought of typing this out because I went out a few days ago and was terrified because people were out there functioning like everything was normal and I had actually put a lot of thought into it before coming up with this thread..
You may not agree with me, or what I said might not really make sense but yeah i mean I do rant a lot of shit on here, this is just another long thread 🤡 feel free to criticise or contribute more to all the trash talk. Pls pardon any typos... Bye, now 🤡
