Hey campaigns please pay my friends! You can’t run on a progressive platform, including raising the minimum wage, if you undervalue your own staff. We’ll never have diverse representation if ppl can’t even get in the door bc organizing opportunities aren’t financially accessible
Obviously many campaigns, especially down ballot races, aren’t rolling in cash. I understand the reality of entry level positions. I understand there are some learning experience opportunities that are unpaid. But we can’t preach what we don’t practice.
I know several young women, many woc, who work integral jobs for campaigns for unlivable wages or sometimes nothing. They do the work not for the money, but to help their community. This practice is unsustainable and takes advantage ppl trying to serve their community.
But, unfortunately, you can’t pay your bills or college tuition that way. This creates of a pattern of passionate and talented young people having to pass on underpaid opportunities, because they don’t have a safety net.

We all lose when this happens.
The best organizers are people who believe in a platform, are able to build an inclusive coalition, and do so while advocating for and amplifying others. You shut these people out, members of the communities you are running to support, when you don’t pay your workers.
We need the best people working in the Democratic collision. We’ll lose them, and the races we are trying to win, if we don’t pay them.
Everyone deserves a living wage.

If we want to protect and preserve our democracy we have to invest in the future of the Democratic Party.
There is no Democratic Party w/ out people knocking on doors, phone banking, researching, making wellness checks, data entry, digital organizing, building websites, planning events, registering ppl to vote, or advocating for underserved communities
Reading this thread back and ummm yeah my bio seems pretty accurate right now😂 “Coalition” not “collision”
