man had a weird dream that haechan and hinata swapped bodies. haechan was stuck explaining to kageyama in korean + broken english why he couldnt spike his tosses and that he actually is a kpop idol while all hinata had to do was tell yuta in fluent japanese who he actually is

now that im more awake and not doing my finance homework..... lets expand this a little

the absolute shock nct faced when suddenly japanese is the only language haechan can communicate in... yuta tears up a bit bcs finally there was someone who actually spoke his language in a way that only locals do, slang and all

maybe the members who watch haikyuu freak out bcs the soul of the manga/anime’s protagonist is in their youngest’s body and altho they do idolise hinata shouyo and all (who doesnt) they realise hyuck got sucked into an anime of all things

on the other hand, hinata’s english is the best it has ever been and this is what caused the karasuno volleyball club to believe that their middle blocker is possessed by a kpop idol. he mainly has to converse with tsukki and yachi, who are arguably the best among the rest

which throws off their whole dynamics. for the first time in his life, kageyama isn’t calling hinata a dumbass bcs this hinata imposter was... not.... hinata...... and wow he doesnt know how to act when he’s not insulting his partner. haechan, although bubbly and energetic

wasn’t as bubbly and energetic as his hinata. wait he meant /their/ hinata. karasuno’s hinata. not just.. his. but anyway. it was weird walking back home without racing each other and even weirder when hinata’s not pestering him to buy meat buns. he had to walk

this hinata imposter back home bcs haechan didnt know where this hinata lived - which was fair, he’s korean and apparently not from the anime world whatever that meant. this hinata-haechan had softly thanked kageyama with a smile and wow that was the first time hinata had smiled

at him /like that/ and although he knows that actually isnt hinata but he vows to make his hinata smile like that towards him one day. once he gets him back. bcs of volleyball obviously. they had a practice match against date tech coming up and he needed his middle blocker.

hinata on the other hand, had stuck to yuta like glue which made mark feel things for some reason. he knows that isnt actually donghyuck, judging by the rapid fire japanese that’s pouring out of his mouth. but it still felt wrong to see haechan /not/ annoy people that werent him

he wondered how the hell did his bestfriend get trapped in such a ridiculous situation. swapping bodies with an /anime character/ at that. not that mark was a hinata anti. it felt nice to see haechan, well hinata, uh haechan-hinata .. haenata? laughing and smiling without much

care in the world, especially with how tired and stressed haechan had been these past few weeks. he wasnt worried, though. haechan told him not to, that he was a big boy capable of making big boy decisions and it was his decision to do that. but sometimes... sometimes he wished

haechan would open up to him more about his struggles and problems instead of telling him to not worry. although the view of carefree haechan was nice, he desperately wanted his haechan back. for comeback purposes. but also, if he was being honest, he missed his bestfriend.

the next day arrives and haechan, who watched haikyuu bcs his members had forced him to but quickly watched it on his own accord, knew that he had to wake up early to race kageyama to morning practices. he read the manga, he knew what that meant to him. he wasnt going to

disclose that bit to kageyama tho, no matter how intensely kageyama was staring at the back of his head. he wanted to give the other some sense of normality. he figured if it was him having to deal with kageyama suddenly being in mark’s body, he would want something

to ground him too. although that didnt last long. bcs haechan was absolutely shit at volleyball. he could dance and sing definitely but spiking and receiving? yeah no. when the volleyball hit his face for the 100th time that day, much to the delight of tsukishima and

the amusement of kageyama who said something along the lines of “wow didnt know there was someone out there better than hinata when it comes to receiving using their faces” haechan had had enough. he excused himself and sat at the bench, which was unnerving to many to see

hinata /not/ wanting to play volleyball. but this was not hinata shouyo. this was lee donghyuck. and he wanted nothing more than to go back home and prepare for the comeback. maybe pester mark. definitely pester mark. it was quite obvious that he was sulking but to be honest

he deserved sulking rights. the karasuno volleyball club, noticing his discomfort, decided to end practice early that morning. it wasn’t productive anyway. kageyama couldnt focus, their hinata was missing, a kpop idol was among their midst. wait. a kpop idol was among their midst

maybe, if they could get haechan to do something he’s familiar with, something that he excels at.. that could lift his mood? and hopefully make his stay here more... enjoyable than getting hit in the volleyball numerous times. maybe, when he does something he’s supposed to, he

could go back to his universe? to the surprise of many, it was tsukishima who approached the idol. a dejected hinata was a rare sight but tsukishima actually willingly approaching hinata? that was an even rarer sight. using the softest tone he had ever used with the ginger,

he asked haechan if he would like to do something he excelled at instead? just to get morale up. haechan, who was busy cursing every deity who placed him in that exact predicament, decided that he had nothing to lose and that was probably the only way he could restore his already

bruised ego. they had seen a side of him he never showed to the public, of constant failures, and he cant let that slide. he was carrying the nct brand (altho he wasnt sure if nct actually existed in this universe) but he damn well wont let that tarnish their reputation.
