Don’t allow anyone trick you into pickup and delivery business this year. Rumor has it that by next year all logistic company would need permit from Nipost to function in Lagos state. The permit is about 2Million naira. A THREAD
It is said that DHL acquired this permit and has been asking the Lagos state government why do they allow other logistic company operate in Lagos without getting the Nipost permit.
However we all know DHL and Nipost combined can’t service the whole of Lagos with the number of e-commerce businesses in Lagos. DHL don’t even do same day delivery within Lagos.
There are over 200 pickup and delivery company into the logistic business in Lagos as a whole currently, and i don’t think they still do enough.
The initial fear when commercial motorcycles were banned from Lagos is that the likes of Opay and Gokada will convert to Pickup and delivery, and take over the Logistics business, run smaller pickup and delivery companies out of business, because they have the capacity
Opay are selling off their bikes as it is at giveaway prices. It doesn’t take them anything to convert to pickup and delivery just like Gokada converted, wonder why?
I know one of the reasons most people are trying to get into pickup and delivery is because they noticed it was one of the businesses that was still functioning during the lockdown. It’s easier to start thank to continue
If the permit thing is effected in 2021, approximately 300 small businesses under the logistic sector would be lost.
E-commerce will be affected heavily.
Lagos state is crippling small businesses. The END
