People keep saying that Lord of the Flies isn't about human nature but that was literally his intention, he literally thought people were like that, he was an attempted rapist, and he said that if he had been born in Germany he would have been a nazi.

You can talk about death of the author all day, but it is very important to note that the intention of Lord of the Flies is to portray what the author thought was truth, and of course he was wrong and his observations were biased, but that doesn't mean that's not what it was.

He wasn't making some woke snarky book about how only rich British children are little shits, he saw that rich British children were little shits and extrapolated that to all of humanity and wrote a book about it.
