Quite a big day in Denmark today, as ‘Phase 2’ of re-opening begins - shopping centres, cafes, restaurants re-open. And social distancing reduced to 1m. Again i’m struck by general compliance of Danes, compared to Brits. Danish politics is much more consensual, so entire
political culture is less critical and antagonistic. This is broadly carried over in society generally, inc media. Danish trades unions also surprisingly (to me) compliant re re-opening which, after all, is a huge social experiment. But no doubt that everyone here will be
watching hospital-admissions statistics very closely in next 2-3 weeks. Fingers crossed.
*Correction: Shopping centres and shops re-open today. Cafes and restaurants re-open a week from today.
