i was thinking about my intro to anthropology class in college and how my entire class banded together against this casually racist crazy white lady
she& #39;d show us pictures of craft/jewelry work made by specific tribes and communities in different parts of Africa and be like "can you BELIEVE they were able to create such beautiful intricate things??" in the, wow they& #39;re so & #39;primitive& #39; sense. and we& #39;d be like "uh...no"
i will preface this next one by saying my 1st year of college i went to community college, so there was a wide range of ages in my class and people were often MIA to deal with work, kid, etc. obligations
there was a woman in my class, and whenever we were discussing religion/practices etc, IF this woman was not in class that day, the prof would be like "xyz is in an arranged marriage which is part of her religion" and the 1st time we were shocked
but the second time she mentioned it a student around my age (so like 18/19) was like "I don& #39;t think you should be talking about that, or her when she& #39;s not here. it& #39;s none of your business" and that shut her the fuck up
i probably should& #39;ve mentioned at the beginning of this thread that the crazy casually racist white lady was THE PROFESSOR TEACHING THE CLASS. anyway.
