I do not write this post to elicit any kind of sympathy but I make no excuse for craving your attention as to the reality of having Covid-19, especially after hearing the frankly idiot mixed messages from the Prime Minister today.

It is now over 7 weeks since I started showing symptoms and there has not been a single day when I haven& #39;t felt ill, sometimes generally unwell, other times absolutely awful.

Every one of those 52 days I have been in almost constant pain from various different areas of my body, at times excruciatingly so and I have no shame in admitting that when I was at my most breathless, I was, on more than one occasion, genuinely petrified.

One night I went to sleep honestly wondering if I& #39;d wake up again. This is a hideous, pernicious, debilitating and very serious illness. No one is immune, it is not something to "take on the chin" and move on and it most certainly is not "just a flu".

Mine has been what is classed as a mild case (admittedly some people have fewer symptoms or none at all) but even last night, after all this time, I woke myself up gasping for breath and scared to go back to sleep.

This is the unknown and uncharted reality of a novel virus, no one knows how each individual will react, nor what any longer term health implications might be.

Of course I am one of the lucky ones, I& #39;ve survived. I& #39;m youngish, pretty fit and with no underlying conditions. Tragically over thirty thousand people in the UK have not been so fortunate, many of them younger and fitter than me.

Hundreds are still dying every day and in the UK there are still officially more than 4000 new cases every day (and in reality many, many more).
Doctors, nurses and health care workers in ITUs are quite literally risking their lives to help try and save others.

For the sake of your community, your loved ones and yourselves, please, please do not listen to the muddled and confused messages coming out of number 10.
Stay at home, stay away from other people, keep out of public places and stop the spread of this hideous virus.
