1/ THREAD: Body Language Analysis No. 4440-T: Amazon’s head of operations Dave Clark on 60 Minutes
#BodyLanguage #BodyLanguageExpert #Nonverbal #EmotionalIntelligence #Amazon #DaveClark #CrisisManagement https://twitter.com/60Minutes/status/1259626611604938755
2/ Lesley Stahl: "Are you worried that you might be transmitting #Coronavirus through your boxes? Through cardboard or plastic?"

Dave Clark: "No. We do not see a risk - there, for customers or employees."
3/ This image was captured just as Ms. Stahl says, "boxes". Note Mr. Clark's:

• Partially Suppressed Smile
• Disgust
4/ Watch the video carefully several times to see the subtle signs of Clark's suppressed smile.
5/ This image, just a split-second later, shows Clark in mid-blink, better demonstrating his:

• Partially Suppressed Smile
• Disgust

Some would describe this expression as 'Smug". There is a component of arrogance present.
6/ Note his rapid blinking as Stahl asks her question and Clark answers. Rapid blinking (above baseline behavior) is a highly reliable, nonspecific sign of anxiety.
7/ At 0:14 seconds, just after he says, "No", his face projects considerable Anger as his:

• Lips Thin
• Lips take on a horizontal configuration
• Mustache area tightens
• Nostrils tighten
• Lower Eyelids Tighten
• Upper eyelids partially close
• has Accompanying Disgust
8/ After he says, "for customers or employees", (0:18) Clark's manifestations of anger diminishes somewhat, and we're able to see, once again, a component of a suppressed smile.
9/ Smiling out-of-context / a partially suppressed smile — are always profoundly significant. Why is he smiling (even if slightly) when discussing the deadly ramifications of a pandemic?
10/ Notice that Ms. Stahl's question gives Dave Clark easy subjective latitude when she says, "are you worried". A person who doesn't care won't worry. This gives him wiggle room.
11/ Never ask a question in this manner, rather, say, "Are you transmitting Coronavirus through your boxes?"
12/ Notice also, that Mr. Clark said, "We". Ms. Stalh's question addressed him specifically ("Are you worried"). Clark's use of "We" demonstrates the subconscious tendency toward diffusion of responsibility.
13/ Moreover, Mr. Clark also said, "We do not", rather than the contraction, "don't". Individuals who are telling the truth, tend to use the contraction.
14/ CONCLUSION: Based on his verbal, nonverbal, and paralanguage behavior, Dave Clark believes that Amazon's current method of operation is spreading Coronavirus to customers and/or employees. He also has disgust and anger at being questioned.
