I think a big part of what makes Tower of God "work" is how little it relies on plot twists, or surprises at all. All of the emotion and suspense is built on what the reader's already have, rather than "I have no idea what will happen next"

as Kurt Vonnegut said:
"Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To heck with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves, should cockroaches eat the last few pages."
Which isn't to say that Tower of God is unpredictable or anything. SIU always manages to amaze. But he generally amazes using just what he has already put in front of you. The pieces are all in place before the game even begins.
This is part of why Tower of God is so fun to reread. Knowing what happens next doesn't matter because the emotion isn't reliant on you not knowing what happens next. Indeed, throughout the comic countless hints are scattered, foreshadowing events years away!
(This is another reason it is so fun to reread)
And what hurts is that SIU works so hard to set everything up way in advance and a lot of that effort goes unnoticed or unappreciated by too many fans. A simple example is Albelda sticking Bam with the souls.

There were people in the comments like
"haha deus ex machina what an asspull bam has plot armor lololol"

but like

its not like that happened out of nowhere!

before the dallar show even began Albelda said that she would watch and decide who to help!!!

we knew she had the souls, we knew about Bam's ability.
everything was put into motion before the dallar show started!! but they call it an asspull, because they don't see the threads that connect everything in this amazing comic

its a shame its really a shame
