Star Wars gets us, we don't get it.

IMO saying someone "gets Star Wars" is short sighted. Lots of people get Star Wars in a way different from you. Saying certain people get Star Wars just means tbey with vibe with your view. 1/?
It also puts down other creators unnecessarily. We need to understand that there is breathing room for interpretation in Star Wars.
An area for improvement I think we need in SW community is to give stuff time to breathe, you don't have to stick to the same opinion you had at first viewing. Actually we need to wait to judge something til we have time to think about.
Whether it's art, design, characters, plots, etc. Give it some time to breathe. We owe it to the creators, and ourselves, to give it a chance and not jeer right away.
Good intentioned artist, the only type that get hired to do Star Wars, have a method to their choices.
I have fallen into the folly of saying certain people get SW and I wish hadn't. They told a story that vibed with me in ways others hadn't. So I'll take it out of my vocabulary.
I'll be the first to admit I didn't fully enjoy TROS when it came out. But now I whole heatedly enjoy it. It takes a while for feeling to form to something, but it grew on me, even though I didn't think it would.
I had to take some time with the whole ST, but those are the ones I'm more likely to watch at the moment. They are different than the PT and OT.

AND THANK THE MAKER THEY ARE DIFFERENT!

I want my Star Wars to come from a variety of people and be a variety of stories.
I want people who see heroes as villains. I want people to see the good in villains. I want a story that is totally different than what I expected. I never want my predictions to be right. I won't be hurt when my ideas aren't even close to what happens.
I'll end where I started.

Star Wars gets us, we don't get it.

And we are damn lucky for having it!
