I have been thinking about this thread for two days.

Even tho I will go hard in the paint for A Lady Awakened, (and yes I adored LoS despite it being problematic), I just wonder if we need some kind of criteria for favs. Especially if we're going to crown them. https://twitter.com/suleikhasnyder/status/1258796984275738625
And the reason is NOW THAT WE KNOW *gestures to all the unpacking a lot of us has done* can something be a fav if it is harmful af?

If we are going to define romance by crowning books as the best of the best in a certain genre, what's our responsibility?
What are we basing it on? Just book feels? An actual in-depth, Romancelandia wide critique? Both?

I know S and I went back on a forth a little on the fact Awakened was a debut and that could either give it more or less weight.

....

In short, I would love this convo.
Case in point: In 2010, I would have likely gone ten rounds or more for Bet Me being one of the top best romances with fat representation.

Today...on Lizzo's Twitter, the fuck not. So Right by Rebekah Weatherspoon would be where I would pull out the fisticuffs.
