Fascinating story. Though it is important to note that the main reason why the boys 'miraculously' survived is mostly how they were raised. The Tongan culture has a strong emphasis on community, service, and religion. https://twitter.com/rcbregman/status/1259428196501594113
The ability to gain resources of food, shelter and fire really stems from the times helping their dads, brothers or other male family members doing physical tasks around the plantation or sea. So it won't be new for them at all.
They would've gained the skills needed to provide their families and communities the essentials of food, water, and other amenities. So in this situation, the main challenge is to familiarise yourself with your surroundings.
I do wonder if the book would contain Manu's perspective. I can see the frustration for some who wanted the perspective from the Tongan boys. Even when it comes to understanding how did they survive.
This thread explains this far better than I could. https://twitter.com/endlessyarning/status/1259441213058342913
