Good evening and #HappyMothersDay . Welcome to week 7 of #CWM101. Tonight we will discuss chapter 7 in @CarrieJanney's book, REMEMBERING THE CIVIL WAR: REUNION AND THE LIMITS OF RECONCILIATION. https://muse.jhu.edu/chapter/1724545  #CWM101
You know the drill. I will post a series of numbered questions/comments below on this thread. You can respond to anyone in the discussion. Please make sure you use the discussion hashtag #CWM101 so your tweets are included in future searches.

1. In my mind chapter 7 drives home the central theme of the book re: the relationship between reunion and reconciliation. It also goes furthest in pushing back against early scholarship about Civil War memory and the claim that sectional reconciliation required... #CWM101
1a. ...a willingness on the part of white northerners to push aside the memory of emancipation and slavery. That assumption certainly makes sense looking back on the civil rights movement and more recent problems on the racial front.
1b. FYI, @CarrieJanney is with us once again. 😃
