Dispelling the myth that "DaVido's A good time album wasn't/isn't a success".

A fairly lengthy THREAD. (17 Tweets!)
1) Since the album's release, it has always been one of the weekly, top 3 most listened to, Nigerian albums on Spotify and Audiomack's streaming platforms (these are the platforms whose streaming numbers are trackable for consumers).
2) It has also stayed in and around the top 25 albums in the country's Apple music album chart since its release. For perspective, the album about 6+ months old.
3) The album is already the most streamed Nigerian album of all time with more than 700m cumulative streams on all major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Audiomack, UduX Music, Deezer, Boomplay). Nigerian album with most money made from streaming!
One major reason why some people feel the album isn't a success is that it did not debut on the US Billboard 200 Album Chart. But,

4) It has spent a cumulative of 18 weeks (one of the longest for a Nigerian Album) on the US Billboard's World Album chart, peaking at number 6.
5) The album peaked at no. 9 on US iTunes album chart & no. 1 on US iTunes Pop album chart (it spent almost 3 months in the top 10 of the US iTunes Pop Album chart).

The US Billboard Heatseekers Chart; a chart that highlights sales by new & developing music albums in the US.
6) When the album dropped, it peaked at no. 7 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart, no. 6 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Middle Atlantic Chart, no. 6 on US Billboard HeatSeekers South Atlantic Chart & no. 7 on the US Billboard HeatSeekers South Central Charts.
7) The album has charted in over 70 countries' iTunes and/or Apple music chart worldwide.

8) First Nigerian album to appear on the Rolling Stones' magazine's official top 200 albums chart (peaked at no. 184).
9) Fall (South Africa), If (South Africa), Risky (South Africa) and Blow my mind (South Africa and New Zealand) have all been certified, with a minimum of gold certification each, in at least 1 country.
Another major contributing reason to the misconception that the album isn't a success is that 3 of its leading singles (Fall, If, Assurance) dropped 2 years prior to the album's release.

10) These singles are the artiste's & are integral parts of the album.
11) And the commercial success of other album tracks like Risky, Blow my mind, 1 Milli, Sweet in the middle, D & G, Intro and Disturbance supplement the amazing commercial numbers that the album has.

The exploits of If and Fall are already well-publicised. I won't go into those
12) Risky is still very active & still charting highly in some African & Carribean Countries, Sweet in the middle gave us one of the most popular verses from last year in NairaMarley's verse & it popularized the 'Sweet in the middle' slang in Nigerian Pop Culture,
1 milli is already a wedding song that appeals to consumers across the country, the popular 'When I look into your eyes, all I see is your waist' (it's an idiom, dont read the literal meaning!) line is still with us from the Spotify-success, D & G,
Blow my mind is still the fastest Nigerian music video to garner 2m views on YouTube, the album's Intro is still such a great concert opener.
13) The album, a very cohesive unit, with all the tracks set at a 'not-so-fast tempo', has quality tracks such as Check am, Green Light Riddim, Animashaun and the two Afro-jazz tracks (One thing & Company), that uphold the overall quality of the album & are still very underrated
14) Pre-COVID 19, the album's North American Tour; A Good Time Tour was going great with 5/5 sold-out shows across the US & Canada, out of the planned 22 tour dates with the remaining 17 postponed as the pandemic saw to that.
Not a common success for Nigerian Albums' tours.
I remain a Nigerian music fan, unhappy with the disrespect DaVido gets on these Twitter streets.

Keep Streaming A Good Time Album and keep supporting all Nigerian Artistes. Remember, it's Nigerian Afrobeats to the world!
