So very sad to learn of the death of Jack Mundey: communist, environmental campaigner, militant trade unionist and all around mensch. In the 70s through Green Bans, he and the BLF saved the Rocks, Woolloomooloo and the QVB. Sydney & Australia owes him a huge debt

I love this photo of Jack from 2014 speaking with @CloverMoore and @leerhiannon at a @cityofsydney event recognising his role as an alderman.

Jack never stopped campaigning. He was involved in the movement to stop the social cleansing of the inner cities and the sale of community-owned housing. He defended working class people's right to live in Millers Point and the Rocks. Nothing too good for the workers.
