Industry consolidation is happening everywhere. I did a brief count on whichever friend comes up to my mind in Beijing, and realized that more than 30% of them joined Bytedance, is working at Bytedance, or at least been at Bytedance. The only unicorn that's massively hiring now.
The new BAT in China - Bytedance, Alibaba, and Tencent. Still confused at what Bytedance is? It is the parent company of TikTok. The only unicorn in China that is invested by neither Tencent or Alibaba. Ha
They used to call Didi, Meituan, and Toutiao (the main news aggregator app of Bytedance) "TMD" - a funny curse. Now that the OTC price of Didi halved, and Meituan went public (another of my fav), please expect Bytedance skyrocket in 2021/2022 ;)
