So, I'm still trying to wrap my head around what I saw at PMs 7pm broadcast. So many questions ... 1/7
So, your boss can ask you to come to work from tomorrow if they want. What if you can't get childcare? and how do they keep you safe at work? What's the guidance? What's your recourse if you feel unsafe? Can they sack you for not coming in? 2/7
And what if you can't drive? Impractical to ask people to avoid public transport. Walking or cycling not an option for many. So, if you are required to come in, you (along with a load more commuters) MUST brave rubbing shoulders on public transport or risk losing your job 3/7
How do the alert ratings relate to further adjustments to lockdown? L3 <= R0.9. What's level L1 & L2? R is different in parts of country & hospitals/carehomes. So which do they use? Is it an aggregate? Do we need to drop to L2 before the next change or could we change at L3? 4/7
This is England only right? Was this worth splitting the coordinated approach the 4 nations had up until now? As it is, the Mayor of London is telling us to stay home & London Chambers of Commerce telling businesses not to change plans for tomorrow because of lack of clarity. 5/7
The lockdown was automatically rolled over last week. The PM is clearly prioritising public health over the economy. Great! But seriously, why broadcast this vague message now? Why the rush? We're still not on top of PPE or testing, track & trace or deaths for that matter. 6/7
After the build up to this speech, I'm more than a little unimpressed. I'll wait to see what comes next week when this stuff gets the full & proper scrutiny it deserves. Thanks for sticking with me if you did. 7/7
