As a Labour member despite not being his supporter I actually wanted Starmer to succeed, not because of any tribal loyalty but because as a country we can't afford for him not to. He needs to hold the government to account, because it's a matter of life+death and he simply isn't.
I was hoping he would change course with his approach which is far too timid given how bad this government continues to bungle their response but instead he continues to offer ineffective platitudes. That in my mind makes him now complicit in all the death and loss of life.
