[ch 392 | #haikyuu392] thinking about how i (like many others) hoped for bokuaka interaction in this chapter BUT in retrospect this is the way it should be; the absence of Akaashi as a front seat character IS his character arc+
growing from someone whose selfworth and motivation was so deeply tied to someone else (read: "We are", never "I"), perhaps thinking the best purpose of his life was simply to orbit bokuto's trajectory (insert star imagery here), providing pull in the right direction when needed-
Even when he goes through his character growth crisis in ch 333 it's self-belittling: "as if someone like me", "with a star before my eyes", etc
But somewhere along the line Akaashi stopped measuring himself against others! He found his own path! He stopped (I hope!!) feeling the need to be a cog or a support beam (pun intended) to someone else (except hes a manga editor so SDKJWIEERJ)
And here he is, Mr "we are protagonists of the world" as the cutest, squishiest, and GENUINELY PROUD-WITHOUT-EGO-OR-SELF-DEPRECATION spectator, smiling more in the past 10 chapters than he's probably smiled in his LIFE
Anyways I love this man and the way furudate's written him; that desire to attach to and almost live vicariously through someone else who you believe shines brighter than yourself is something I relate to very strongly and worked for years to break out of,
and you eventually realize that everyone writes their own lives, and that you'll be a protagonist in some stories (or even just some chapters of some stories) and a side character in some others, but the same is true for EVERYONE, no matter how big or small you are
also bokuaka are boyfriends and married and happy and in love, end of thread.
