bc of all the scad discourse,, i& #39;m just gonna say this:
i don& #39;t regret coming to scad, despite the debt and the bullcrap they have pulled on us in my three sequential years and the fact that they refuse to take note of my 4.0 and work ethic that reflects the image they display-
i don& #39;t regret coming to scad, despite the debt and the bullcrap they have pulled on us in my three sequential years and the fact that they refuse to take note of my 4.0 and work ethic that reflects the image they display-
and the Reason that i don& #39;t regret it and the reason i& #39;m not going to tell anyone to straight up not come to scad, is because if i hadn& #39;t come to scad?? my life would be so directionless. i& #39;ll be in this debt for probably the rest of forever, but yknow what???-
the friends and peers and contacts i& #39;ve met here and the way my skill in drawing has gone to unbelievable levels is worth it to me. all these hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt is worth it to me to finally feel like i& #39;m able to do the one thing i& #39;ve always loved- draw.
STILL.
all of my success and happiness at scad is credited PRETTY MUCH SOLELY TO THE SEQUENTIAL ART DEPARTMENT. the university as a whole is. well, i think the rest of the tweets that are trending can speak well enough on that behalf. but the SEQA department?? worth every cent.-

you know what i will say though to anyone thinking about art school??? get your AA first and take colour theory, 2D and 3D design, western survey 1 and 2 art history and 20th Century art history before you go to art school. please god im begging you do it beforehand-
you don& #39;t gain anything extra from taking gen eds or those foundations at scad or any other art school. just knock em out when they& #39;re not $4,000/class.
being a transfer student into scad is the BEST way to do it. i will not rest on this hill.

still, personally, all i& #39;ve ever wanted to do for my entire life is draw. i didn& #39;t have as much natural talent/skill as a lot of other people, and i never knew how to improve and i never know how to learn how to improve. i spent 3.5 years working on an art degree at a state uni-
and i didn& #39;t learn a single thing in those 3.5 years. left as a graduating senior, came to scad and was bumped down to a sophomore again, and i learned more about how to draw in ten weeks than in four years.
i& #39;m not exaggerating and i have the comparison art to prove it LMAO-
i& #39;m not exaggerating and i have the comparison art to prove it LMAO-
i& #39;ve spent 3 years at scad learning all about how to draw, how to draw quickly, what the rules are, how to interpret them, and how to break them. for the first time in my 24 years of life, i am finally happy with the way i make art.
that& #39;s why coming to scad was worth it for me.
that& #39;s why coming to scad was worth it for me.
but it& #39;s not worth it for everyone, and despite the promotion of how anyone can teach themselves to draw online or on their own, that simply isn& #39;t true for everyone.
do what& #39;s best for you. don& #39;t get all your information/opinions from one source. seek different perspectives.-

college in general isn& #39;t a decision to be taken lightly, and everyone& #39;s journey is different. listen to your gut, do what you think is best for you, and don& #39;t let anyone scare you or guilt you into any big decision like this.
you are the only one who knows what your path is-
you are the only one who knows what your path is-
no one can tell you what your path is, &unfortunately, for many of us, the road to finding our path can be long, painful, &, yes, expensive. the consequences may last your entire life, but if it leads to you being happy or achieving a dream.. then it& #39;s worth it.
