As a matter of fact, Cnythia Weber used #LordoftheFlies in order to explain the Realist IR theory in her International Relations Theory- Critical Introduction book (2001, Routledge) (2)
She basically says that the British boys, in the lack of a hierarchy and total anarchy turned out to be beasts since human nature is inherently evil and that evilness comes out in extreme situations. Anarchy hence is what allows the conflict to occur (as argued by Waltz) (3)
But then she also asks, "What if fear functioned differently? What if fear united people for good rather than divided them for evil (or even benign) competition?" International anarchy would then not look the same, and anarchy would mean something very different in IR theory. (4)
She also adds that "It is this fear functioning for cooperative ends that we find in the (neo)idealist myth about international anarchy". (5)
This Guardian piece can hence be given to students in IR theory courses, as a way to depict how in different socio-political and even perhaps cultural settings anarchy would result in different meanings, norms and behaviour/s...(end)
@sbarisgulmez , hocam siz ne düşünüyorsunuz bu konuda? Bu bulgu (yukarıdaki Guardian piece) UI teori tartismalarina katki sağlamaz, öğrencilere yardimci olmaz mi sizce de?
