For people who want to contribute to open-source software (OSS), but haven't, what is stopping you?

reminder to self don't ask the questions that you don't want to know the answer to aka that will stress you out in all the ways you're failing as a maintainer

Reading these stories breaks my heart—I get why people are scared away from open source and why it's so hard for me to find contributors.
