I will say one of the best things about being an adult tricycle rider is the informal bonds it creates, particularly in my neck of the woods
When I'm out and about; Black people of all ages, abilities, and sizes stop me to ask me questions about my tricycle. Many of them don't relate to normal bicycle culture but didn't know there were alternatives that could actually be comfortable and functional
Lets be real, bicycle culture in the U.S assumes a white default in consumership, design, and price point

finding a bicycle that works for you if you don't fit that paradigm, that you can afford no less, gets *rough*
so being able to talk to skinfolk about the world of adult tricycle riding is great. you see a shift in what people assume is possible

particularly in a space that's losing bike stores & where Black bike riding is routinely criminalized + surveilled
as we make this shift to the "new normal" many believe will need to be built

I hope bicycle culture as it is (both its radical & capitalist iterations) collapses in on itself completely to make space for literally everyone else that doesn't care to imitate Lance A
