Being black & having black hair + depression isn’t cool, because when my depression gets to kicking I do not care about what state my hair is in so my edges & the moisture/texture of my hair will go to HELL
SO here’s some tips and pointers on taking care of my hair + having depression hit and/or just when my mental health goes awry !!
Honestly first of all, I’m here for you guys and I’m so sorry if you can relate! But know you’re not alone and I’m sending so much love!! ✨
- if i can shower, I make sure to wet my hair and attempt to finger comb it or use a wide-tooth comb
- if i can’t shower, I bend my head over my tub (A sink could work too)
- be sure to finger comb / comb we all know thats a big one
- I throw deep conditioner in my hair
- I wrap my head and let my conditioner sit and I’ll lay back in my bed, sit on the couch, try to clean for about 20 mins (sometimes it does go longer. it be like that)
- rinse it out, then I’ll do 2 easy braids or wrap my head again & lay back down
(Sometimes I will put oils in)
