Comey under oath, 3-2-17: "...the FBI was surprised when the Russians did nothing in response to the expulsion." Oh really? Sanctions imposed on 12-28-16 and reported that evening. On 12-29 Putin flak says Russia will consider DJT's coming ascension in drafting its response. 1/
12-29 DJT says it is time to move on. 12-30 Putin says we aren't retaliating at all as good faith gesture to incoming Trump Admin. So there was no surprise about what was motivating Russia's inaction. But Comey says the entire Intel community was trying to figure it out. 2/
JC says they were trying to figure it out "in the last couple of days of December and the first couple of days of January." They were tasked [by who?] to find out, "do you have anything [blacked out] that might reflect on this? That turned up these calls...." How convenient! 3/
"That turned up these calls [Flynn-Kislyak] at the end of December, beginning of January." Well which was it, Dude? You can be so precise when you want to be. You knew the reason for Russia's behavior by January 30 at the very latest. The last 2 days of Dec were Dec. 30 & 31. 4/
The Fan Belt Inspectors were watching "all over the country" and covering "very, very closely." Did your boys read any newspapers? When were the Flynn-Kislyak calls "turned up"? You briefed it to Clapper and gave him transcript copies. "In the first week of January he briefed" 5/
"...the President [and Biden and Obama's] senior team about what we had found and what we had seen to help them understand why the Russians were reacting the way they did." Sunday, 1-1-17 was the first day of the first week of January. Amazingly, St. Jim did not "brief" the...6/
...Acting Attorney General of the effing U.S. about ANY of this until Jan. 6. Yates only found out about it on Jan. 5 when Obama mentioned it to her in JC's presence. Can you imagine JC pulling this on Holder--except perhaps to establish plausible deniability on Holder's part? 7/
McCabe tells Acting Assistant AG of the National Security Division Mary McCord about the calls on Jan 3. He says they were discovered while an intelligence product was in the works to address Russia's minimal response to the sanctions, which was not "what was expected." 8/
The calls were discovered "while the draft product was in the review stage." McCord's notes indicate that Bob Litt, Clapper's General Counsel (and an old Clinton-Holder hand and current LawFare Contributor) "raised the issue of a possible Logan Act violation." It's all B.S. 9/
The "intelligence product" timeline/angle strikes me as being as specious as the Logan Act angle. Oh, by the way, McCord had to look up what the Logan Act was and did not report her Jan. 3 call with McCabe to Sally Yates until AFTER Flynn learned about it from the President. 10/
What does it all mean, beyond the obvious Logan Act Hoax aspect which I have commented on before? More on my theories later. But it's obvious that the Ignatius-Logan Act leak was a key part of the plan to flummox an unsophisticated-disorganized incoming Administration. end/
