So when I replayed FF7, I did it in Japanese and forgot that the PS1 translation had Tifa say ‘I don’t care about anything but Cloud’ when in JP, she says ‘What I want to talk about, it’s of course about Cloud... She’s kinda chiding herself to the party, like of course, yes, I’m talking about Cloud again

But the PS1 translation made it seem like she was saying fuck you to everyone else

btw I wanna add on that Tifa feels guilty about how much she's thinking about Cloud (Barret spends a good chunk before this trying to cheer her up with some roasts by saying she's being weak and she's stronger than this when she keeps thinking about Cloud)

So her admission of

how she's going to talk about, yes you guessed it, Cloud, has this scent of 'I'm sorry for being weak when you need me'. She feels guilty for not being strong enough to put Cloud aside when the world's gonna get kaboomed and she feels guilty for failing Cloud

cuz Cloud needed Tifa as his anchor, but unfortunately, she didn't know why he knew what he did and she couldn't bring herself to break everything to him (that he wasn't there, that Sephiroth is telling the truth) when Sephiroth's tryna mindfuck him RIP

Anyway, tack on that her greatest fear is losing Cloud and that she unwittingly has a hand in that fear happening, it's just a bad time for everyone involved. I hope the Remake delves into her guilt here better or at least keeps the same pace

Northern Crater and Mideel is going to rip my heart out, stomp on it with Timbs on, and yeet it into the fucking sun in the Remake
