Too much of gate keeping on the term Ambedkarite. I’m an atheist and culturally follow my tribes customs. I could never become a Navayana Buddhist because I can’t give up on my rituals and can’t abandon non-vedic gods like shiva and Krishna. Nor can I stop drinking.
Dr. Ambedkars 22 vows include never drinking as well as abandoning shiva and Krishna. Apparently many neo-Buddhists break the drinking rule. But I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t lie. If I do something I do it right.
But this conversation on who gets to call themselves Ambedkarite is too boring and all over my TL. It’s taking up too much space. Apparently it’s ok to disrespect ppl from non-hindu religions, it’s ok to disrespect women, it’s ok to have a barely disguised desire for violence...
But it’s not ok to not be a Buddhist. Well in that case I don’t want to trouble anyone. Holding that gate up must be tiring. I cease to call myself Ambedkarite. I admire Dr.A just like I do Periyar, Sree Narayan Guru, Iyothee Thass, Jotiba Fule & other anti-caste activists.
Here forth I will refer to myself only as anti-caste. (Unless this gatekeeping ends) I have lot of work to do and I don’t have time to go on stage and accept a certificate of approval from anyone. 🙏🥰 I removed it from my bio.
Unfortunately I can’t restrict this post only for bahujans so a request to UCs/ Brahmins to not engage with this post. It’s really none your business. Scroll forward please. Thanks 🙏☺️
