Reminder that after the Council, angry trads calumniated Archbishop Bugnini by claiming he was a Freemason (no proof he was) and by deliberately misquoting him (he never said we should remove anything offensive to Protestants from the Mass). Calumny is a mortal sin.
Ruining somebody’s good name because you don’t like their ideas is poisonous. A great deal of the traditionalist movement even today is fueled by the idea that Archbishop Bugnini was an evil modernist Freemason. Building a movement on sin will never work.
And not only is that sin, it’s also just gross gossip. Those angry trad bishops and priests and theologians after the council gossiped in a disgusting way, and the rotten fruit of that gossip is still observable today.
