The US is a real dumpster fire but I’ve never encountered as many casually racist comments as I do in Europe and I feel like a crazy, overly emotional American when I confront them about it. It’s wild and weird and I hate it.

I remember being teased in Spain by this guy was like, “oh Americans don’t like the word ‘N____” look how uncomfortable they get.” I just...what? And more accurately, what in the actual fuck?!

I don’t know what the point of this thread is but I feel like I need to say that words have power and racist jokes aren’t funny ever. And it’s *impossible* to make racist jokes and also not be racist. Like...come on, Europeans.

And just because you’re saying something in a “safe space” where no one will be offended (because they’re all white) doesn’t make it any less disgusting. That space is safe for YOU - safe for you to be casually racist and shitty.

I dunno I just...I dunno why what I, as an American, would call ignorant and casual racism is so so prevalent here and I really hate it. End of rant I guess. All of this really makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Jesus.
