From tomorrow, we are moving into the first stage of easing off the lockdown. The good thing: we can now get unlimited outdoor exercise, it's OK to sit or lie outside, picnic, play football with your kids, etc. (with people of your own household). Thanks heavens. (Thread)
I am heartily sick of police helicopters flying low overhead to monitor green spaces, of busybodies reporting people to the police for sitting under a tree reading, far from anyone & from all the people saying "stay indoors." If you're 2m from everyone else, it really doesn't
matter whether you are sitting or standing, walking or throwing a ball from your dog.

The second part of the directive is a lot more confusing.
People who CANNOT work from home (the examples given were people in manufacturing & construction) are now actively encouraged to go to work, but should avoid using public transport if at all possible.
Given that most people rely on public transport to get to work, I don't really see how they are supposed to square those two conflicting pieces of advice. Though I do hope that more people switch to cycling (& never switch back) & that this results in more pressure to
create bicycle lanes. But I don't know how many people live within realistic cycling distance of their workplaces and even have a bicycle.

The lockdown rules remain in place in Scotland, Wales & Ulster. Only in England are we switching from "stay at home" to "stay alert."
