Every argument for reopening boils down to this: “Sure, it’s wildly dangerous, we’re not even remotely prepared for it, and thousands of Americans will die agonizing, needless deaths, but what about the economy / re-election / sports / haircuts?”
It’s just madness.
It’s just madness.
The problem is that preparing for an actual reopening means admitting the response has been a failure and the beginnings of considering the entire economic and political structure, not to mention our national priorities, are inherently flawed.
America is just hopelessly lost in its own lies and countless contradictions. We were always headed toward this point as long as we denied that very obvious fact. This crisis calls for a complete reconsideration of who we are and who we’ve thought we were.
