The softening of lockdown language and anonymous briefings to the papers, has meant that the damage is already being done. What we saw over the weekend worries me no-end. The future for our country is increased infections and more avoidable death.

The Government are forcing people back to work if they can't work from home, but they 'should' avoid public transport. This will put some of the lowest paid workers at the mercy of bosses!

Last week, the Chief Scientific Adviser told the country that if people are less than two metres apart, the likelihood of infection increases exponentially - but now that is being relaxed.

It’s clear there’s been a lack of consultation with our nations, with Scotland and Wales sticking with the less ambiguous ‘Stay at Home’ messaging.

It’s insulting that they had to hear details of the roadmap via the Sunday papers.

We've had a catalogue of errors from the Govt since day one, covered up by manipulated statistics. PPE shortages, slow reaction at the start, fudged testing numbers, unprepared care system, not following WHO isolation advice. The list is endless!

What we just saw was a PR exercise, not leadership.
