I am a serving Corps Member in 2019 Batch B(Stream I), and I saw a circular that claimed my batch would be collecting certificates as from May 28th and that each distribution point would only accommodate 30 Corps Members and 3 Nysc officials .
And the process would be staggered

For 10 days or more as the need arises.
Personally, I understand that @NyscNaija is trying their best to distribute these certificates whilst also maintaining the best possible health precautions. However , I believe there could be a more innovative approach to solve this

Problem which I am about to propose.

I suggest that instead of utilizing a physical certificate(hard copy), we can utilise an e-certificate for this temporary period . And when this pandemic is finally over , NYSC officials can regroup and begin to share the hard copies.

Thereafter, this soft-copy discharge certificates would be sent to the NYSC portal profiles of each Corps Member.

A possible question which this new approach raises is how Do we verify that this Corps Member is worthy of his discharge certificate?

Each Corps Member is cleared each month by their CDS officers before they are due to collect their monthly stipend from the Federal Government. And before they are being cleared, they submit a document from their PPA which proves they were consistent and well behaved.

By logging into the NYSC profile of each Corps Member, one can see the number of months that a Corps Member was cleared for, and if they reach the accepted minimum that is stipulated by the body, they should be awarded their e-certificate , and if otherwise, it should be

Withheld.

I believe with this approach, we can be sure that those who receive their e-certificate are worthy of it.

I propose this approach, because I strongly believe it would prevent the likely dangers that the physical distribution would pose, inspite of the precautionary

Measures that NYSC would take to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This would be to the advantage of NYSC officials than corps members, because they would be exposed to 30 Corps members on a daily basis . I suggest that NYSC consider my approach
