I went to art school because the tuition for your first degree in Scotland is covered by the government. I knew I could learn everything online, but I went to DJCAD because I wanted to develop my soft skills - communication, teamwork, organisation, managing my time etc. (Thread)
As well as have specific goals and briefs to respond to that would push me out of my comfort zone. I grew up with an undiagnosed learning difficulty and art school was very helpful for me in growing where I couldn& #39;t before.

Basically, I didn& #39;t go to art school to learn to draw
and I wouldn& #39;t have gone to school if it meant paying hefty tuition fees. I would have saved my money and learned online. I always said that Gobelins was the only school I would consider paying for, I had no intentions of applying to the school when saying that but here I amhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷‍♀️" title="Woman shrugging" aria-label="Emoji: Woman shrugging">
Even now, I obviously don& #39;t blame the school at all and I& #39;m grateful that they& #39;re prioritising our safety, but I really resent that I& #39;m missing out on much of what I paid for - the facilities, face to face teaching, class morale etc because thats where the value is.
I& #39;m making this thread just to add to the voices, because I& #39;m also seeing people who were accepted to art school start to freak out.

I don& #39;t regret art school, but I went to community college, then went to a Uni where my debt wouldn& #39;t ruin me.
If I was in a country with ridiculous tuition fees + brutal student loan repayment terms, I would learn online. Employers do not care about your degree unless it& #39;s for visa purposes.

If my current school wasn& #39;t reopening in September, I& #39;d ask to defer my education for a year.
