My biggest post-secondary opinion is that community college was the best thing I ever did for myself. Two years of new media studies trained me to jump right into creative work in ways that nothing else ever has, it was extremely affordable, & the staff were so supportive.
Diff paths suit diff people, this was mine. I dropped out of art school after a very bad year, needed time off, & then community college gave me what I needed to make my dreams come true. I’m an Ivy League grad now but tbh that degree is just a piece of paper. CC gave me my life.
I shout about this because I went to high school in a snobby town where community college was looked down on, I felt like I had no choice but to go to a four year university, and that’s a load of crap. I really needed it and I wish it felt like a viable option from the start.
Anyway, I would’ve loved to go back into a nice 4 year art program if I’d had the resources, but even if I went to no college at all, I’m pretty sure I would’ve found my way into comics a different way. You do you. Draw lots of comics and don’t look back if that’s ur dream
