Since people are talking about art school; I think "the right path" is different for everybody. For me, the right path was dropping out of art school at 18, freelancing, and taking classes from non-accredited schools (Schoolism & CDA). If u think that might be right for u... 1/2

For some context, here's work from my senior year of High School. I had strengths in a lot of areas art school was focused on, and weaknesses in a lot of areas that very targeted online classes were perfect for. This is partially why I went the direction I did.
Worth noting that there were a lot of other personal reasons for leaving, too. I had a really difficult time in the tiny private art school i found myself in, and for my mental health, leaving that environment was vital.
