US deaths:
H1N1 (began in North America): 13,000
COVID-19: 80,000+ (could top 200,000)

US unemployment rate:
9-10% during H1N1 (due to Bush-era recession)
Went from 3.5% to 14.7% (20% projected) during COVID-19

Most US coronavirus cases came from Europe—no “ban” until mid-March
SIX times as many people died in the 2018-19 flu season under Trump—the worst flu death toll in 40 years—than died in the 2009-10 H1N1/swine flu pandemic. Flu deaths went up dramatically under Trump, before Covid-19 struck. https://twitter.com/khanoisseur/status/1259517378318217217
Between the excess flu deaths and excess Covid-19 deaths, there have been an excess 160,000 deaths in US so far in the Trump era.

High marks for what? https://twitter.com/khanoisseur/status/1259518398121336834
Some of the US death toll due to H1N1 was due to millions losing healthcare and sick leave (tied to their jobs) during Bush-era economic recession/layoffs—no Obamacare/ACA then.

Similarly, Covid-19 death toll would’ve been higher without ACA, which Trump wanted to repeal fully. https://twitter.com/khanoisseur/status/1259517378318217217
