Mahabharat is so vast and thrilling because it totally blurs the line between right and wrong. I had limited knowledge and understanding. Now the more I read, the more I'm desirous to learn, and the more I'm convinced that they all followed dharma religiously.
Every piece of the historical events needs to be closely read, as fiction format fail to raise the moral scrutiny aspects of the characters. There are grey shades within the primary characters and have much more layers when analyzed with only difference in their shades of black.
It was the era of dharma. And every act of theirs conformed to dharma. What was dharma for one, it was adharma for the other. In their mind they were following the honor code, but what set them apart was their interpretation of dharma with varying emphasis.
Reading the epic tale and characterisation of Mahabharat with utmost reverence makes it even more intriguing. There's so much to learn and so much more to discover.
