"Hey tell me about this horse racing sport"

What do you want to know?

"Who's your favorite horses to watch?"

There's a bunch but they are retired

"Retired? How long do they race?"

The good ones, a few years then breed

"Ok. Can you win money betting?"

Sure
"Ok how do I figure out my horse to bet?"

PPs

"Where do I get that?"

Most cases you have to buy it

"Oh. Ok bought one. What is this?"

There's some videos on YouTube

"This seems like a lot of info"

It takes a few years to get the hang of it

"Ok. I like the 7 here at 6-1"
GL

AND THEY'RE OFF

"Why is the 7 now 2-1?"

Computer players

"What?"

It's complicated

AND HEEEEEERES THE 7

"That Pete guy is exciting"

The best

"My win seems a little light"

Oh that's takeout, like 17%

"That's more than sports betting"

Yeah
"Who's that silver haired guy?"

Bob Baffert

"He must be really good"

He won the Derby 5 times

"Who won last year?"

It's complicated

"How? 1st horse crosses line. Wins"

DQ'd for interference. 2nd horse wins

"That trainer must have been sad"

He got arrested

"What!"
Yeah

"For what?"

Feds say he drugged his horses

"That's horrible. Does anyone else?"

Uhhhh
If you're upset why the sport isn't marketed well and not on more during the pandemic maybe examine why. This "conversation" isn't really that far fetched to a newbie and if you're trying to sell racing does this sound appealing? Fix first, then market. That's the order. Period
