I’ve been worried that a lot of #misinformation & how-to-be effective #scicomm advice is a fantasy. A pantomime of what white people’s version of polite argument.

I want to talk about how families and friends actually argue when they fight.
I grew up being screamed at constantly & slapped in the face if I “talked back”. I’m afraid to type this because it feels like a betrayal, but this is my point.

Advice that doesn’t work in messy, ugly reality doesn’t work, period.
What would it take to build out an effective #science #communication approach that is *actually* effective?

The things on my mind have been pushed for years(!!): cultural competency & #inclusivescicomm.

Plus de-escalation? Conflict resolution? A #bystander training approach?
