Sir Matt Busby's United side might seriously be the most overrated side in the history of english football.
Lets compare it side to side to the Bill Shankly dynasty ( for me the greatest period for an english team )
Lets see how they fared in the league
Matt Busby was Manchester Uniteds manager for almost 25 years in that time United won the leaue 5 times which equals to roughly 4.8 years per title which for a side labeled one of the best sides ever is just shit.
When we compare it to Bill Shankly's dynasty we can see that in the same time period of 25 years Liverpool won the League 13 times which equals 1.9 years per title which is nothing short of absolutely amazing.
Okay then, you might think that maybe they were better in the domestic cup competitions. Well no, in 25 years they won the FA cup twice and the charity shield 3 times. again 5 years per domestic cup. See a pattern here?
Now lets compare it to Liverpool. In 25 years they won the charity shield 11 times , the FA cup 4 times and the league cup 4 times that adds up to 18 in 25 which equals 1.38 years per cup which is again nothing short of Amazing.
But okay theres still international competitions which are the most important. Surely United did well atleast in those. Well again no in 25 years United won just 1 european cup. Just 1.
When we compare it to Liverpool. In those 25 years they won the European cup a total of 4 times, the UEFA cup 2 times and the UEFA super cup 1 time. Thats 6 more european cups with 3 being the most prestigious award you can win in football. END OF THREAD
