Given that there were at least 2,14,269 migrant workers registered on Seva Sindhu, what all does the govt need to do to ensure dignified travel back home for all ? Why is it that workers are still walking back home when trains are announced ?

People are walking because - no proper info, not enough trains, trains are not free.

We wrote to @BSYBJP saying there is no proper process. Workers registered on Seva Sindhu, but police who don't have access to Seva Sindhu deciding who travels based on their surveys 2/n

We also asked @BSYBJP ( tweet 2) that there are three important things needed - helpdesks at all migrant worker colonies, at hostels, at major settlements ; ads in the newspaper which assure migrants of trains; making travel free . Lack of all if this makes workers anxious 3/n

Also given the 2 lakh plus workers registered wanting to go to 16 states, from diff districts of karnataka, we did the calculation , we need 187 trains from 5 states. We have shared this with govt. We need an assurance that these many trains will run and need info on when 4/n

We demand that govt put in place a proper process, announce the process & schedule of adequate trains, make trains free . Else workers will continue to walk . Opp parties too should demand action on each of these @BSYBJP @hd_kumaraswamy @DKShivakumar @srivatsayb @Sowmyareddyr 5/5
