Your regular reminder: whether you are a Unionist or a Scottish Nationalist, any policy announcements made by the PM today apply only to England. Health policy is devolved to each of the three devolved governments. If you live in Scotland, then your life is governed by the law of
Scotland. A court in Scotland will not be interested that you don't like Nicola Sturgeon and prefer the PM. If the policy announcements lead to a change in English law, but not Scots law; the Scottish courts will (unsurprisingly) apply Scots law. This divergence in law between
England and Scotland is not something new; it is not something that has resulted from devolution. It is how it has always been. The treaties and legislation that gave effect to them and which resulted in England and Scotland uniting expressly preserved Scots law and the separate
legal system. There is not one UK lockdown; there are four: one for each of England, NI, Scotland & Wales. There are some differences between them already and there has been throughout the past 6 weeks. Your position on the constitution doesn't affect the reality of the laws that
apply to you. If you live in Scotland, Scots law applies; if you live in England, English law applies.
