Cotroceni Palace is the official residence of the President of Romania (and also a museum)
Many of the politicians in the book have their weekend homes on Lake Snagov - like this one for example
One of the murders - and a confrontation between protesters and the police - takes place in Constanta, a port town on the Black Sea coast
An eventful funeral takes place in a village near Buzau, perhaps one like this
Back in Bucharest, there are a lot of references to University Square, one of the key hot spots during and after the 1989 revolution
