I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The thing that drives me the most nuts about anyone ever talking about Veronica Mars S4 and nostalgia was that it actually was nostalgic
Continuity is not nostalgia and continuity is what Rob Thomas decided he didn’t give a shit about, not “nostalgia”
Continuity means a timeline that makes sense, means your characters don’t regress or just change personalities without any reason, continuity means the characters who we last saw in each other’s lives are either in them or if they’re not there’s an explanation
Nostalgia means bringing back characters we haven’t seen in over a decade, who have no reason to still be in Neptune that we know of for a five second bit part. Nostalgia means Veronica’s love interests ALL continue to be guys she dated in high school.
I half suspect if Max had turned him down Rob would’ve tried to convince Teddy to come back because that’s the only love triangle he hasn’t rehashed (oh and the only one that would actually make a lick of plot related sense)
Nostalgia means Veronica and Keith are in the same office they were in 15 years ago, despite Keith moving five years ago and the business now being twice as big.
Nostalgia doesn’t just mean that everyone’s favorite characters live. Because seriously anyone who says the show wasn’t nostalgic must think that’s the only definition
