Just so we're clear: they're deliberately giving confusing advice because they'd anticipated we - like America - would rail against the lockdown and they'd "have" to lift it FOR DEMOCRACY. But the vast majority have prioritised protecting other people over themselves (1/?)
We've realised that our freedom is not remotely under attack, but that a relatively small period of restriction is the best course of action - to the extent that almost everyone who could began physical distancing and lockdown weeks before the government introduced it (2/?)
And now we've looked at the data, at home and around world, and the deaths, and decided the best course of action, for strangers and loved ones, is to continue, the government is confused and furious. Where are the protests? Where are the petitions? (3/?)
And in the absence of the outrage they'd banked on to be able lift the lockdown and blame us for what will inevitably come next, they've decided to release mixed messages that are vague and put the responsibility for containing the spread of the virus solely on us (4/?)
There's an element of vengeance to it. Punishment for not allowing ourselves to be manipulated as before. They know exactly what kind of confusion and devastation will come from this. And they'll be there to pick up and profit from the pieces. We have, once again, been had (5/5)
